Laurie H.

Laurie Hathorn- On Trend Entrepreneur.

Laurie’s life story began, grew and continues on a focused mission: to discover, understand and implement powerful business strategies. She has lived the life of a free enterprise warrior – learning-based, service-oriented and outcome-focused. Along the way, she has always been moved to share what she has learned and to encourage the success of others.

Her business career began at the age of eight, working by the side of her father, who owned an office equipment store in New York City. It was there that she learned the inner spirit, the work ethic and the fundamental truths of being an entrepreneur. By the time she finished High School she had learned how to sell, manage finances, negotiate with suppliers, handle collections, deliver customer service and plan marketing programs. While learning the skills of business from her father, she studied music with the principal flute player from the NY Philharmonic. She experienced first hand the discipline it takes to become a master. She went on to complete a college degree in music and psychology; but her affinity for business moved her to earn an MBA. After two years with a public accounting firm she returned to her family’s business. Having watched the growing trends in automation, she convinced her father to add computers to the company’s product line and within two years quadrupled the store’s income. She had learned a powerful lesson: when you get in step with the trends, they are your friends. In 1990, seeking further personal growth, Laurie joined her family’s real estate business and for the next 10 years mastered sales, appraising, management and investing. On one project alone, she turned a $75,000 investment into $1.3 million in just 4 years. Once again it was clear to her that when you study value and anticipate the trends, you can earn significant financial returns.

In 2005 with the vision and desire to build an entrepreneurial organization, Laurie formed an ownership team and launched the first Keller Williams Realty office in an upscale, suburban area north of New York City. In less than three years the company grew to be the largest real estate office in the area.

“My decision to found and launch Free Enterprise Warriors with Dave Jenks,” she says, “is my opportunity to empower, activate and accelerate others who aspire to be successful business owners. It is my experience that entrepreneurs have a developed sense of value and timing. I want to help people gain that wisdom and be able to create their own self-empowered destiny.”
